This month at Modulr, we've made Approve & Fund available for all payroll customers, combining the approval and funding of your payroll into one simple step for pay runs of £100,000 or less.
We're also pleased to announce a new cards activity screen for travel customers, showing every authorisation, settlement, reversal, and refund across your whole card programme on a single page, so you don't have to open cards one by one to see what's actually been used.
Looking ahead:
We're also introducing an automated sweep of successful Direct Debit Collections to your external accounts. Dive in to explore what's new and what's next.
Until now, the only way to see recent card activity was to open card details one-by-one. If you issue hundreds of cards weeks ahead of check-in, it was hard to see which ones had actually been used.
The new Cards → Activity screen shows every authorisation, settlement, reversal, and refund across your whole card programme for the last seven days, on a single page.
Find it under Cards → Activity in the Modulr Portal.
Authorisations and declines appear within seconds. Settlements arrive in the daily batch each morning from 06:30 BST.
To improve funds flows for customers that regularly transfer funds from Direct Debit collections out of the Modulr Platform, we have introduced an option of an automatic sweep of successful Direct Debit collections to a validated account with another Bank/PSP.
Modulr has introduced this as an optional service where Modulr will validate/configure the sweep to an account confirmed to be associated with your business. The sweep will happen automatically Day 5 of the collections cycle once all Direct Debit returns (ARUDD) are complete.
Here’s a short breakdown of how it works:
To enable the sweep, please email the support team support@modulrfinance.com with details of the account you wish sweeping to, and date to be enabled. We will validate the account ownership and enable the sweep.
Approving and funding payroll is now wrapped up in one simple step.
When a payroll run needs funding, choose Approve & Fund. The portal works out the exact amount needed and lets you transfer it straight from your business account. Your bank handles authorisation, then drops you back into the portal right where you left off, so you never lose your place in the flow.
This is now live for pay runs of £100,000 or less. Two things to know: you'll need access to the business bank account you're funding from, and your bank's own transfer limits still apply, so larger runs may still need a manual transfer.

Every cross-currency payment that runs through a separate FX provider is work your finance team does twice: two platforms, two reconciliations, and two sets of data that don't talk to each other.
FX touches treasury, finance, and operations, but rarely has a single owner. The cost of managing it chasing payment status, correcting beneficiary details, and reconciling across systems, never gets measured. And most providers still won't show you what the conversion actually costs.
The more international payments you process, the more that fragmentation drains time and resource. Something's coming to Modulr to change that.
We've built currency conversion into the same platform as your payments, accounts, and cards, so conversion and reconciliation happen in one flow, not across two systems. No hidden fees, no weekend surcharges, just clear conversion costs built into your flow. Over the coming weeks we'll break down exactly what that means: how conversion works, and how reconciliation fits in.

We've launched our Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector, connecting AI coding tools, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, ChatGPT and more, directly to Modulr's platform via our API.
It cuts the time developers spend reading documentation before writing their first line of code: teams can ask plain-language questions, surface the right endpoints, generate integration scaffolding, and run requests against the Modulr sandbox, all without leaving their dev environment. The result is up to 3x faster to a working prototype.

Modulr's partnership with Workforce.com brings time and attendance data directly into the payroll process for the first time in one system. It calculates every payment, including staff, supplier, and HMRC payments. Modulr processes those payments in minutes, so staff are paid accurately and on time. The integration includes: real-time payment processing through faster payments, automated payroll data transfer to Modulr's payment platform, and an HMRC-recognised solution for payroll payments.
The result: businesses can process payments up to 80% faster, and manual Bacs file handling is no longer needed. It's also available as a mobile app, so approvals can happen on the go. Get in touch to learn how it works for your business, get started with Modulr.
Modulr has partnered with Cogent Bank to accelerate its expansion into the United States, giving businesses access to multiple payment rails, including ACH, RTP, and FedNow, through a single platform.
